International Day of the World’s Indigenous People was observed on 9 August 2024 with the theme “Post 2015 Agenda: Ensuring indigenous peoples’ health and well-being”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 August 2024 inaugurated first National Handloom Day at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. There he also unveiled ‘India Handloom’ brand.

World Malaria Day (WMD) was observed on 25 April 2015. The theme for the 2013-2015 campaign is Invest in the Future. Defeat Malaria. The day is observed to recognise the global efforts to control malaria. It is an occasion to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria control and elimination
