Rohan Murty takes initiative to promote Indian classical literature
In a philanthropic initiative by Rohan Murty, a library of rare ancient Indian classical literature has been launched. The library contains texts going as far as back 3 BCE.

Brahma becomes CEC
Hari Shankar Brahma was appointed as the new chief election commissioner (CEC). This was done according to the convention that the senior-most election commissioner succeeds an outgoing CEC. He succeeded V S Sampath.
RBI lowers the rate for Home and Consumer loans
For the first time in almost two years, Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan cut key interest rates by 25 basic points. As a result of this move, home and consumer loan rates are set to fall.
