Gajanan Pendarkar, Chairperson of VICCO, passed away at the age of 82, in Mumbai. He was one of the renowned industrialist in Maharashtra.
Born on September 12, 1934, Pendharkar joined the family business after getting degree in pharma in 1957. He began Vishnu Industries Chemical Company (Vicco) in 1,200 sq ft space and started promoting Ayurvedic products.
His company continues manufacturing a wide range of Ayurvedic herbal medicinal products such as herbal toothpaste, herbal tooth powder, natural turmeric skin cream, herbal shaving cream and natural Ayurvedic pain relief cream, among others.
At starting point of Marathi television industry, when Marathi serials found it difficult to get sponsors, VICCO gave strong sponsorships to such programmes.
Pendharkar has written autobiography named ‘कर्म चाले संगती’ (Karma chale sangati) which is inspirational for new entrepreneurs
