Vasant Gowariker – one of the notable scientists of India died following a brief illness in a hospital at Pune.
He was 81 years old. Gowariker was an expert in fluid material. He did his doctorate from Birmingham, UK.
He had acted as scientific advisor to the Prime Minister of India, the Secretary to the department of science and technology, Director of the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
He was well known for his contribution to the development of solid fuel rocket propellants that gave a thrust to India’s space mission
