Jamaica’s Usain Bolt beat controversial rival Justin Gatlin to win 100m gold at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
Bolt’s victory is regarded as important as he had struggled with injury all season. He completed the race in 9.79 seconds. He defeated Gatlin, who was the fastest man in the world this year by just one hundredth of a second.
Bronze was shared between youngsters Andre De Grasse and Trayvon Bromell who finished with an identical time of 9.92 seconds.
