Pak bans chief terrorist organisations

After the instructions from US secretary of state John Kerry who was on the visit to Pakistan, Pakistan banned 12 terrorist organizations including the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and the Hakkani network

The move is seen as a part of Pakistan’s anti-terrorist efforts after the Peshawar attack.

What is JuD?

  1. Pakistan based terrorist organisation
  2. A front for the Lashar-e-Taiba – a banned organisation
  3. Hafiz Saeed – the Chief of organisation
  4. India blames Hafiz Saeed for the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
  5. UN had banned the group in December 2008

What is Hakkani network?

  1. One of the many Mujahideen groups that the CIA and ISI patronized against the soviet in the 1980s
  2. It has been blamed for carrying deadly attacks on Indian interests in Afghanistan.
  3. It is said to have carried out attacks on the Indian embassy in Kabul and consulate in Herat.
