Manohar replaced N Srinivasan as ICC chairman

Recently elected BCCI Chairperson shashank Manohar replaced N Shriniwasan as ICC chairperson. Manohar will occupy the position till end of June next year. The decision was taken at the cricket board’s 86th annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai.

In Manohar’s absence, Mumbai Cricket Association chief and former ICC president Sharad Pawar will represent the BCCI at the global body.

Other Important Decisions Taken

  • BCCI decided to adopt new guidelines to address the conflict of interest issue.
  • The rules regarding this had been discussed in detail in last month’s working committee meeting. Those rules were unanimously accepted in this AGM.
  • BCCI decided to refer all complaints regarding conflict of interest to ombudsman (an independent authority appointed by the general body of the board).
  • A.P. Shah, a former chief justice of the Delhi high court, would be BCCI’s first ombudsman
  • Former India all-rounder Roger Binny, who served as the South Zone’s representative in the selection committee, was replaced by former India wicketkeeper M.S.K. Prasad.
  • Sourav Ganguly replaced Anil Kumble as head of the BCCI’s technical committee.
  • BCCI has retained Rajeev Shukla as the chairman of a trimmed-down IPL governing council. Besides Shukla, the governing council also saw the inclusion of Ganguly, Ajay Shirke, Jyotiraditya Scindia and M.P. Pandove.
