Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha becomes the first Hindu chief justice of Bangladesh

Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was on 12 January 2015 appointed as the 21st chief justice of Bangladesh. He will be the first Hindu Chief Justice in the judicial history Bangladesh

His appointment was confirmed by the Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid as per Article 95(1) of the Bangladesh Constitution.

Surendra Kumar Sinha will succeed incumbent Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain who will retire on 16 January 2015.
