Hari Shankar Brahma
Hari Shankar Brahma was appointed as the new chief election commissioner (CEC).
This was done according to the convention that the senior-most election commissioner succeeds an outgoing CEC.
He succeeded V S Sampath.
After completing his short tenure, Bramha will vacate the post on April 19.
After Brahma S N A Zaidi is expected to take over as CEC. Zaidi will have tenure of two years.
