Way for IIM-Nagpur cleared

The union HRD ministry has cleared the way for Maharashtra’s first Indian Institute of Management (IIM) to be set up in Nagpur.

The development which was confirmed by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would be an important step towards the setting up of IIM in Maharshtra.

  • Indian Institutes of Management
  • Group of 13 public, autonomous institutes of management education and research in India
  • Offer postgraduate, doctoral and executive education programmes
  • The establishment of IIMs was initiated by Jawaharlal Nehru, based on the recommendation of the Planning Commission
  • Each IIM is autonomous and exercises independent control over its day-to-day operations.
  • The administration of all IIMs is overseen by the IIM council.

    1. Headed by India’s Minister of Human Resource Development
    2. The chairpersons and directors of all IIMs
    3. Senior officials from the Ministry of Human Resource Development
