Mahindra group came forward to support Indian athlete – Inderjeet

After knowing about the struggle being made by Inderjeet for training and equipment expenses without a job, Mahindra Group chairman and managing director, Anand Mahindra, chose to lend his support to the athlete.

Inderjeet, who is in talks with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for a job, was offered Rs 5 lakh by Mahindra on his personal accord and will seek crowd-funding to support the athlete’s training expenses.

Inderjeet said

“I’m touched by the gesture. Hopefully, it will mobilize greater support in the coming weeks and bolster my preparations for Olympics”

  • Inderjeet was the first Indian thrower to qualify for the Rio Games.
  • The shot putter won his eighth straight gold medal in six months at the Senior National Inter-State Athletics in Chennai last month, heaving to a meet record of 20.44m.
