August 27, 2024International AffairsOmkar Sawant

According to an official list of 60 proscribed outfits, Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Afghanistan-based dreaded Haqqani network are not banned in Pakistan.

However, the government has put the JuD on the list of groups being closely watched by the officials. This means that the government can ban them if found guilty of promoting militancy.

According to the list, there are 60 organisations banned by Pakistan for their involvement in militancy.
