February 6, 2015International AffairsOmkar Sawant

As a response to the killing of Jordanian pilot by ISIS militants, Jordan’s King Abdullah vowed to wage a harsh war against the ISIS militants who control large areas of neighbouring Iraq and Syria. Soon after this statement Jordanian war-planes bombed ISIS target. However, Jordan has not disclosed the details of the operation as to where exactly bombing took place.

Jordan is part of a US-led military coalition that has bombed ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria. King Abdullah has vowed to carry the fight on against the ISIS group after the militants burned a captive Jordanian pilot alive and released a video of the killing.

What did the King say?

  • Jordan is waging a war of principles against the militants.
  • Jordan’s response to the killing of the pilot will be harsh because this terrorist organisation is not only fighting us, but also fighting Islam and its pure values.
