Government launched coin to commemorate 175th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata

The first new coin of this year, released by the government of India is of the Business Giant Jamsetji Tata – the founder of the Tata Group.

This was to commemorate his 175th birth anniversary. It will be the first Indian coin to commemorate an industrialist.

Who was Jamsetji Tata?

  1. Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (3 March 1839 – 19 May 1904)
  2. An Indian pioneer industrialist
  3. He founded the Tata Group – India’s biggest conglomerate company
  4. He was born to a Parsi Zoroastrian family in Navsari then part of the princely state of Baroda.
  5. He founded what later became the Tata Group of companies.
  6. Jamsetji Tata is regarded as the legendary “Father of Indian Industry“
