All of us are facing a strange phase in the evolution of mankind. A phase where the whole world is speaking of humanity and love while at the same time, threatened by the spread of brutal violence on account of religion, race, sex and many more. Recent developments in the Middle East, Africa and several other parts of the world prove this fact. Newly emerging terrorist outfits like Islamic State and Boko Haram are perpetrating disgusting acts that have left the world stunned.
If you are thinking that incidents like these are none of our business and they are confined just to certain parts which are so called impoverished and underdeveloped regions in the world, then wait until you read following.
Many well educated young people from various ‘so called developed countries’ have been trying to participate into these kinds of terror spreading organisations. This has been evident from number of youths from countries ranging from US to India, leaving their home and homeland to take part in this war against humanity.
The question that we all have to reflect upon is ‘Are we, as a human race, really developed and civilized?’
The very symbols that we use to bolster about our progress are now being used against ourselves. Science and technology is being used to destroy peace of this planet. Terrorist organisations and many terror loving people in our society are using means of science and technology, like social media, to spread hatred and jealousy in order to get their task of spreading fear and terror accomplished. Why does this happen after all? The reasons may be different, but if one tries to find out the root, then it lies in the fact that though we have made extraordinary progress in the material world we are still lagging far behind in the field of non-material. We have extraordinary ‘comforts of life’ and means of destroying anything that poses threat to our life. But at the same time we don’t know what life is all about.
We have forgotten that rules are made by humans for the sake of humans. However, when rules tend to overwhelm the life of the very human being who created it then it is the time to drop those rules and think about the new ones. Century old religions, their clergy and staunch followers mistaken at the very point when they speak of the supremacy of their religious beliefs over everything – including human life itself. And thus they tie human life with the shackles of rules and beliefs. This is the very thing that the terrorist outfits like Islamic State – which aims at re-establishing the Caliphate, have been doing.
What did Boko Haram achieve by kidnapping the innocent Nigerian school girls? What did ISIS achieve by brutally killing their hostages? What did the attack on the school in Peshavar tries to say? Is it going to add any significance to the life of mankind?
You don’t even need to look towards countries in the Middle East or Africa to find such insanity. You can easily find it somewhere around you, in the form of a person or an organisation who wants to establish the supremacy of whatever he believes to be the truth, at the cost of anything – including life itself. Or you can find it in the person who wants to fulfil his interests and desires through someone else, no matter if it requires use of force. Incidents like murder, rape or other kind of abuses all emerge out of such kind of insane human mindset.
All these and other instances of the same kind actually symbolizes the need of the time to come together, leaving our religious and cultural baggage, to join the next phase of evolution in the mankind – a phase which symbolizes the need to finish the century old reign of terror and intolerance. This is a thing that must be done if we want this world to be a better place!
